Your Guide to Visiting Pigeon Forge in the Winter
Are you looking for something fun to do with your family this winter? Head to Pigeon Forge! Although it’s a less popular time of year to visit than summer and fall, there is still plenty of fun things to do in the area. To help guarantee you have a great time, we’ve created a guide to visiting Pigeon Forge in the winter.
Take Advantage of Fewer Crowds
One of the things visitors love most about Pigeon Forge in the winter is the fact that there are fewer crowds! During the summer and fall months, traffic can be heavy, and lines at attractions and restaurants can be long. When wintertime comes, the hustle and bustle dwindles down. You may still experience traffic and crowds since the Smokies is a year-round destination, but compared to the summer and fall, the area tends to be much less busy. We recommend taking advantage of the fewer crowds to enjoy popular attractions you may not have been able to get tickets to before or take a peaceful hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park!

Take in the Winterfest Lights
Nothing says winter quite like snow falling softly and twinkling lights all around you. While we can’t guarantee you’ll see snow, we can guarantee you’ll get to see incredible lights! Winterfest in Pigeon Forge brings more than 5 million lights and mesmerizing displays to the area. You can see the lights along walking trails or from the comfort of your car as you drive along the Parkway. The Winterfest lights illuminate the town until mid-February.
Stay Warm
When you visit Pigeon Forge in the winter, one of the main tips we have to give you is to stay warm. You don’t want the cold mountain air to get in your way of having fun on your vacation! We recommend dressing in layers, especially if you plan on going for a hike, as there are different temperatures at different elevations. You should also take advantage of the fireplace at your vacation rental. Whether you’re curled up in front of the wood-burning fireplace or fire pit at your cabin rental or in front of the gas fireplace with a blanket at your hotel, you’ll love the comfort your lodging provides. Visiting indoor attractions like our show, taking in sights from the comfort of your car, and relaxing in your rental are all great ways to keep warm when you visit Pigeon Forge in the winter.
